A changing color Drag Bus, made of plastic...

An american collector found on a shop last weekend a new Drag Bus, and since then his pictures are making a lot of noise on the internet. And what's so special on that Drag Bus, is that its been sold on shops.

VW Drag Bus has appeared for the first time on mainline in 1996, and it has metal body and base, and an articulated body that opens to show the chassi, engine and cockpit. And that's a recipe for an expensive car that can't be made for the basic line, so it's only produced for special lines and as exclusive convention cars today.

On last year, Mattel produced a new Drag Bus version, but this time with a plastic body, metal base and no articulation (check some pictures here), and it has been sold on every store. This year the plastic version is back, now on Color Shifters series.

The interesting thing on that new Color Shifters collection is its package, very similar to the mainline model. Some people got confused on that similarity, and though this new version belonged to the mainline. But it has a different price since it uses this changing color technology. We can think we'll see this new Bus on mainline in the near future.

There are some other cars on that collection (with plastic body too).
